What Rockledge lists as needing a permit
The city's Building Division keeps a list of work that needs a permit. Driveways are on it. So are parking lots, patios larger than 100 square feet and sheds larger than 50 square feet (Rockledge Building Division).
That patio line comes up fast. A 10 by 10 foot patio is exactly 100 square feet, right at the line. A 10 by 12 is over it. If a contractor is doing the work, ask who is applying for the permit.
Small pours on finished lots
On a lot with a house, a lawn and irrigation already in, the pour has to fit around them. Mark the sprinkler heads and anything else buried near the forms, and tell us about narrow gates, low branches or overhead wires when you book. If you're digging footers or grading, Sunshine 811 needs two full business days' notice first (Sunshine 811).
Have the forms set and your finishing crew on site when the truck pulls up. Because the concrete is measured out at the forms, a shed slab or a patio doesn't mean ordering a full drum and dealing with what's left. See short loads and slabs.

Questions people ask
Does a small patio need a permit in Rockledge?
The city lists patios larger than 100 square feet. A smaller one may not need a permit, but confirm with the Building Division before you pour.
Can you bring concrete for a shed slab?
Yes. A shed slab is usually a short load. Send the size and thickness with your quote request. Rockledge also lists sheds larger than 50 square feet as needing a permit, so check on the shed itself too.
How do I work out how much concrete I need?
Length times width times thickness, all in feet, divided by 27 gives cubic yards. The yardage guide has a worked example and how much margin to add.
