Site-mixed concrete in Melbourne

Our yard is at 7285 Waelti Dr in Melbourne. The trucks load up there, and the concrete doesn't get mixed until they reach your job.

Mixed at your forms, not at a plant

Our trucks are volumetric mixers, the white ones with green lettering. Sand, stone, cement and water ride in separate compartments, and nothing turns into concrete until the operator starts mixing at your job. When the forms are full, the mixing stops. Whatever wasn't needed is still dry material on the truck.

That's why small and odd-sized pours work well with us. An AC pad, a run of sidewalk, the footers for a porch. You get what the job takes, mixed fresh. Site-mixed concrete explains the truck, and short loads covers the small jobs.

A Melbourne address doesn't settle whose permit it is

Melbourne, West Melbourne, Melbourne Village and Melbourne Beach are four separate municipalities (Florida Department of State). The 32940 ZIP code on our own yard's address also covers Suntree and parts of Viera, and neither of those is a city. So the envelope doesn't tell you much.

Inside city limits, the City of Melbourne's Building Section lists driveways and parking lots among the work that needs a permit (Building Section FAQ). Outside them, Brevard County or another city sets the rules. Find out which one you're in before the pour date goes on the calendar.

Contractors and homeowners

Masons, driveway and flatwork crews and builders order from us, and so do homeowners with one slab to pour. For a contractor the draw is usually flexibility. If the measurement was a little off, the operator keeps mixing as long as there's material on board, instead of the crew standing around waiting on a second truck. Concrete for contractors has more on that side.

Homeowners mostly want help with the number. How many yards is a 12 by 20 patio? The yardage guide walks through the math with a worked example.

Picking up material at the yard

Some customers come to the Waelti Dr yard for material instead of a delivery, and a loader can fill a trailer. Call first so someone's ready for you. Material pickup has more.

Do I need a permit for a new driveway in Melbourne?

Inside city limits, the Building Section lists driveways as work that needs a permit. If you're outside the city, ask the county or the city you're in. If a contractor is doing the work, ask who is applying for it.
