One house, several pours
Some houses go in as a monolithic slab, footers and slab in one pour; others pour footers first and the slab later, when its forms and inspections are ready. Either way the driveway usually comes near the end, and each pour is a different amount on a different day.
With a site-mix truck, none of those amounts has to be locked in at a plant ahead of time. The operator mixes until the forms are full. Slabs, footers and foundations and concrete for contractors have more on builder work.
Palm Bay's driveway permit
In Palm Bay, residential driveway permits come from the Public Works Department, not the building department. Its permit schedule splits new residential driveways into two kinds: open drainage, meaning a swale and pipe, and closed drainage, meaning curb and gutter (Palm Bay Public Works). Look at your street before you apply.
The same schedule refers to an initial pre-pour inspection and a final inspection, and it lists re-inspections for re-calls and failures. Book the concrete for after the forms have passed, not before.
Getting the truck to the lot
On a lot where the house is still going up, the ground beside the slab is often loose sand or new fill. A loaded mixer is heavy, and sand that holds a pickup may not hold it. Show us where the truck can park on firm ground, and keep it clear of the swale and any new drainage pipe. Our summer pour guide has a full prep list.

Questions people ask
Who issues driveway permits in Palm Bay?
The city's Public Works Department handles residential driveway permits. Check its current requirements before you set a pour date.
Can you deliver to a lot with no house number yet?
Yes, as long as we can find it. Put the parcel ID or the nearest cross streets in your quote request, or call (321) 751-6666.
How do I tell if my street has open or closed drainage?
Look at the edge of the road. A grassy swale along the street, with pipes under the driveways, is open drainage. A concrete curb and gutter is closed drainage. If you can't tell, Public Works can.
